THIRD GLOBAL INDIAN ENTREPRENEURS CONFERENCE and INDIAN & NRI/PIO ECONOMIC SUMMIT

            

The Third Global Indian Entrepreneurs Conference is sponsored by the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin and is cosponsored by Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Asian Indian Chamber of Commerce (New Jersey), Indian Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Mumbai), Fil-Indian Chamber of Commerce (Philippines), Indo-Dutch Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Indo-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, Indo American Chamber of Commerce of Northern California, Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce and many others. The Supporting organizations are the Association of Indians in America (AIA), Indian American Forum for Political Education (IAFPE), the National Federation of Indian American Association (NFIA), the Network of Indian Professionals (Net-IP) and Professional Indian Networking Association (PRINA).

 

The Third Global Indian Entrepreneurs Conference will be held from September 12-15, 2002 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in New York City (visit www.gopio.net for more details and conference updates). The First Global Indian Entrepreneurs Conference was organized by the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1996 while the second conference was organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in New Delhi in 1998.

 

The program will start with a solemn ceremony on September 11 to mark the first anniversary of the 911 terrorist attacks with an evening reception/dinner in Manhattan. Join four days of events from September 12th with Indian and NRI/PIO Economic Summit followed by the Third Global Indian Entrepreneurs Conference, being inaugurated on the evening of the 12th. The theme of the Economic Summit is Theme: Economic Development at the Crossroads: India and NRIs/PIOs. Organized into four session, it will cover discuss the issues of India's and PIO's economic development in the global context of NRIs, PIOs and the changing goals, and strategies. The range of issues is wide and covers trade, technology, macro and micro financing strategies, empowerment of the Indian rural sector and last but not the least the role of NRI and PIOs in the holistic development of India and countries with large PIO population.

The Entrepreneurs Conference sessions will be held on 9/13 and 9/14, from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. as follows: CONFERENCE TOPICSBusiness and Investment Opportunities in Nanotechnology/Biotechnology, Next Generation Software/Networking/Wireless Technologies, Hospitality Industry, Franchising and Service Industries; NRI/PIO Opportunities in India, North America, West Indies and Africa, Europe, Middle East and Far East. Speakers include Dr. Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University (formerly with Harvard University), former US EEOC Commissioner Dr. Joy Cherian, Reliance Industries’ Corp. Affairs Group President Murlidhar Chaini, venture capitalist Sreedhar Menon, US Deputy Asst Secretary for Commerce Karan Bhatia and representatives from hotel/motel industry, franchising, service industry, nano and biotechnology, and from various chamber/country delegations. 

 

There will be networking reception with PIO business and political leaders on 9/12 evening and a banquet on 9/14 evening. The conference will conclude on 9/15 with Conclusions, Resolutions and plan future conferences.
