THIRD GLOBAL INDIAN ENTREPRENEURS CONFERENCE

- PIOs – Technology, Investment, Business and Networking Opportunities as Major Theme of the Conference

The Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) was formed at the First Global Convention of People of Indian Origin in New York in 1989. The initial thrust of GOPIO was fighting human rights violation of people of Indian origin (PIO). In the early 1990s GOPIO had filed cases of such violations in Fiji and Sri Lanka to the United Nations.

People of Indian origin constitute a global community of 20 million people. It is bigger than many countries of Europe. According to a survey, PIOs living outside India has a combined yearly economic output of about $400 billion, as much as the GDP of India. GOPIO has now set its priorities in pooling PIO resources, both financial and professional, for the benefit of PIOs, the countries they come from and India. Toward this goal, the organization has set up GOPIO Business Council last year to promote business and investment opportunities between different countries having large PIO population.
